Good Deeds

I bought some fruit from a market stall, which totalled $9.50. I gave the guy $10 and he obviously thought I'd given him $20 because he gave me $10.50 change. I gave him the $10 back and he said "Many would have just kept it."

I was on a crowded train and a heavily pregnant woman got on. I was not seated, but everyone who was just stuck their noses in their newspapers and pretended that she wasn't there. I got so cross that I shouted across the train "Excuse me. Do any of you think that you would be able to give your seat up for this obviously pregnant woman?" I felt a bit of an idiot, but she got a seat and heaved a big sigh of relief when she sat down.

An elderly lady was being pestered by a bunch of teenage boys, so I walked her home.

For 3 days in a row, at precisely 7am, this guy would pull up in a car across the street from my house, stop and honk his horn a few times. A few minutes later, a girl would come out of the house and get into the car and off they would go. Even though I am an early riser and am awake at 7am, I still thought it was too early for honking horns, so on the 4th day, I went out in my pyjamas and politely informed the guy that this was a residential area and asked if he could not honk his horn in the future as it was too early and would most likely be waking others. He humbly said "OK".

My best mate is studying hard at University, but is struggling financially. Although I did not have any extra cash to give him, I told him that if he helped me spring clean my flat, he could sell everything that I didn't need. He put it all on ebay and made $500!

I was about to get some money from the ATM and I noticed that the guy before me had forgotten his cash. I grabbed it and chased down the street after him. I think he thought I was a bit nuts when I first approached him (as I think everyone in the street did), but he was really appreciative once I handed over the money!

I was standing outside of my office in a busy Square and saw a boy, who was 12 or 13 years old, crying. Some older boys from his school had stolen his phone and he just wanted to go home. I used my phone to call his mum and they spoke for a while and when I spoke with her, she said that he would take the bus home. I could see that he was far too distraught, so I took him out to the main road, hailed a black cab and gave the driver the correct fare to get the boy home.
